This is a poem I wrote for my poetry class tomorrow. Sociological Commentary if you will.

From A Human Being’s Perspective

That’s right a human being’s perspective
Not a black man’s perspective
Because that’s what they’d expect
Not a male’s persepctive
Because I’m more than just a gender
Not a Christian’s perspective
Because “religion” causes problems

I live in a society where no one is equal
We say we’re the land of the free
But can’t marry who we want to
Yet while we’re all busy judging who is gay
We ignore the simple fact of our high divorce rate

What about us? paying thousands of dollars for a degree
Which means nothing in this freaking economy
Drowning in loans how are we supposed to advance
If you aren’t a business major people say that you can’t

Confidence is the issue, beaten down cuz we’re not perfect
I find it funny people remember mistakes over success
Why is physical image more important to most people
Instead of inside personality
That’s where the real person lives…..

Why are women seen as sex objects? They got smarts too
We need to open our eyes and stop living like fools
Women are God’s angels they deserve respect like everyone
But they’re getting paid less, because they have breasts?

Cash Rules Everything Around Me
People kill for the cash
Have sex for the cash
We’ll sell our souls for the money that won’t last
Cuz once the casket closes it’s all left behind
Money’s just a means to an end, not a reason to end

Regardless of race, background or the culture
We’re all one in the same do away with the torture
Human beings searching for love, happiness and success
We should all ban together and act as on

Until that day comes, our time counts down till the human race is done…..

Sergio Jimenez, 17, was last seen at about 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2 at the Natomas Pacific Pathways Prep campus at 3700 Del Paso Road. Jimenez was last seen on the Del Paso Road campus where surveillance video shows the teen heading toward the bus loop at about 3 p.m. He was last seen wearing a gray, zip-up hoody sweatshirt, black jeans and white tennis shoes.

 “Thanks to all in attempting to locate 17 year old Sergio Jimenez. Let me assure you that the SPD has been actively investigating this event and will continue in our efforts until he is located. We are concerned because this is uncharacteristic behavior for this young man. However, we have no indications at this time of foul play. A variety of investigative measures are underway.” -Capt. This is a true statement, why should we as people be afraid of the government when we have the numbers and if we indeed are the 99%

Usually I don’t really give a flip about celebrities divorcing and all that nonsense, but I feel like I need to say something about this.

Really people? Why are we giving this story so much spotlight (granted I’m doing the same thing by typing this post) but there are so many more important things going on besides this dang wedding and divorce. We got people dying, diseases that need to be cured, people who are living without and more…..and we’re worried about Kim Kardashian’s divorce? Come on people.

Some people don’t take marriage seriously anymore I believe, with the 50-50 divorce rate people are either getting married too fast or just getting married for the wrong reason. Case and point with this Kim Kardashian ish.

Now this whole Kim Kardashian divorce thing has sparked some anger in the LGBT community because honestly right now they are all taking marriage as seriously as everyone else should be because the majority can’t get married and that pisses them off. And understandably so, how come straight people can get married and divorce with no repercussions, but people in the LGBT community have been fighting for marriage and get negatively sanctioned for truly loving someone.
